BARBADOS-MUSEUMS & HISTORICAL BUILDINGS
OUR HERITAGE PRESERVED
Barbados has a rich history and has preserved and restored many of its historic buildings. Visit a plantation house for a trip back in time, see the towering lighthouses that once led ships to safety, or explore the historic towns that are an important part of our past and present.
Right here at Speightstown - an historical town in its own right, you will find the Arlington Museum housed in a restored eighteenth century building. An interactive three-story museum that is both educational and engaging, children in particular will love the interactive and audio visual features of the museum.
"Speightstown Memories" introduces the lives of the island's first settlers; "Plantation Memories" illustrates the influence of colonization, the plantation system and sugar cane on the island; "Wharf Memories" presents a talking pirate recalling the importance of Speightstown as a leading port and trade hub.
