BARBADOS - OUR CULTURE
DRESS
Although our dress code is usually casual, there are a few restaurants with dress codes in place. We also ask you to remember that you are NOT PERMITTED to wear CAMOUFLAGE at any time while visiting Barbados. Bathing suits are not considered suitable attire for shopping etc. unless you cover up (a wrap) - we prefer that they are saved for the beach.
ILLEGAL DRUGS
Possesion of illegal drugs carry severe penalties in Barbados.
RELIGION
Barbados is home to over 100 religious denominations, all free to worship without any interferance. Visitors are welcome.
BANKING
Banking hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. There are several ATM machines located across the island.
SAFETY
Serious crime is not common, but you are advised to exercise the same safety precautions you would at home. DO NOT leave valuables in cars; STAY in well-lit areas at night and remember to lock your hotel or guest house doors.
CURRENCY
The Barbados Dollar is linked to the United States Dollar at a rate of US$1.00 = Bds$1.98. US Dollars are accepted island wide as well as major credit cards.
ELECTRICITY
Barbados runs on 110 volts, 50 cycle. European appliances may require adaptors.
